A Welcome from Wes Johnston, Senior Pastor at LRBC…
A church is like an extended family — a family of Christians. You will find people from all ages in our ‘family’ and people from many cultures and circumstances.
So what unites us? It’s quite simple. A common love for Jesus… because he loves us! Some people say “God doesn’t care about me — and if he does, why doesn’t he prove it?” But he has proved it… by sending Jesus. God himself, entering the world he had made — in human form!
You see, God is both loving and just. How could he forgive us for the mess we make of our lives without just ‘turning a blind eye’ to the hatred, selfishness and greed that spoil us?
He did it by taking the punishment himself. When Jesus was crucified, he willingly died, for us! He did so, knowing that God will forgive all those who accept his death on their behalf. And today Jesus is alive, transforming the lives of men and women who trust him. It’s the confidence of knowing that God loves us that makes people at LRBC want to share something of that love with others.
We’re also part of the wider community in our area of Leeds, and we believe that God calls us to make a difference in the lives of those around us. So we’re concerned to share the good news of Jesus Christ, and reflect his love and compassion to our local community.
