Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults

At LRBC we believe it is our responsibility to create a safe environment for the children attending activities run by our church. Our Child Protection Policy was created by reference to the Children Act 1989 and Government’s ‘Safe from Harm’ guidelines.

The Child Protection Committee comprises children’s advocates, staff advocates and a representative from the Eldership. It is responsible for all matters concerning child protection in the church, and co-ordinates interviews, training and police (CRB) checks for anyone working with children at LRBC.

The remit of the committee also extends to vulnerable adults, because we believe that they too need protection from exploitation and deserve a safe environment. As a church, we seek to offer a warm welcome to everyone, but we recognise the special responsibility that comes with having vulnerable people among us.
